Walk the 5km beachfront promenade from the Strand Pavilion to Harmony Park, then loop back for breakfast. Several cafes open at 07:00. The morning light on False Bay is extraordinary.
From June to August, snoek vendors line Beach Road selling freshly caught snoek for R40-R60 per fish. Buy one, take it to any of the public braai spots, and cook it on the beach with apricot jam glaze -- a Cape tradition.
Mediterranean-inspired bistro with the best ocean-view terrace on Beach Road. Known for their seafood pasta (R165) and wood-fired pizzas (R95-R145). The calamari starter is lightly dusted and fried to order -- not the rubbery pre-made variety. Family-friendly with a dedicated kids' menu.
Reliable chain seafood with a stellar beachfront location. The Strand branch has better views than most independent restaurants in the area. Seafood platters for two (R395) are generous. Prawns, calamari, and line fish are consistently good. Book a window table for sunset.
Steakhouse with a strong seafood sideline, set slightly back from the main beach strip. The 300g rump (R175) is excellent value and their snoek pate starter (R65) is a local favourite. Quieter than Beach Road -- good for a proper sit-down meal without the tourist buzz.
